The focus of the investment team at Platinum is to unearth undervalued shares from among the thousands of companies that are listed on stock markets around the world. Fundamental to our investment approach is the idea that the stock market hands out no gifts, so in order to identify mispriced shares it is critical that an analyst develops a solid understanding of the businesses he or she examines. Given the diversity of industries and locations under consideration, a strong desire to appreciate the intricacies of the way different businesses work is a common trait of members of the investment team.
We are seeking an experienced stock picker
to join our International Equities team. Ideally
you will have five years plus experience as
a stock analyst and be ready to take on the
dynamic opportunity of identifying International
investments. Candidates that have had real
world industry experience will be highly regarded.

Quantitative
analyst
We are seeking an analyst to develop
quantitative/econometric models as input to
Platinum’s
investment process. Initially the job will entail close cooperation with a portfolio
manager and then progress to making independent
investment recommendations. The ability to
apply common sense to solving complex analytical
and communication problems is necessary. The
following technical abilities are necessary:
• Proficiency with Factset or a similar data aggregation program
• VBA programming skills.
An academic background in both computer science and/or economics is preferable
and several years of financial market experience would be advantageous though
is not mandatory.

Business Development
Manager
Platinum wishes to create a business
development function to address the Australasian
institutional market and those markets in Europe,
the Middle East and Asia. By institutional
we mean Sovereign Funds, Family Offices, Foundations,
Public Offer, Industry and Corporate Pension
Plans. We desire to broaden our source of funds
under management and enhance our penetration
in Australasian and non-Australasian markets.
We will favour a person with practical funds
management experience.

Equities dealers
We employ dealers to manage our transactions across global markets. The role not only involves the placement and management of orders, but also the provision of critical market intelligence and feedback to the rest of the investment team. As such our dealers are expected to make contributions to the investment process and not act as passive order processors.

Writer/Editor
for Platinum's interactive website
Platinum is looking to develop its
brand by introducing a unique, interactive
web site to deepen its relationship with
its clients, advisers and the wider public.
We currently communicate through our quarterly
reports but want to extend this to another
level.
The concept involves writing a daily commentary as well as populating an editorial library. This may encompass reaction and analysis to current market events, emerging trends, portfolio themes, off-the-wall insights, analyst reports, general interest articles, etc. The aim is not simply to report the news but to provide insight, challenge the reader and entice them back. An interactive forum could provide a two-way experience.
The candidate would ideally have a newspaper background and a sound grounding in
economics/finance. We also value the ability to challenge conventional wisdom.

Involves looking after all areas of
client communication covering the internet,
telephone, advertising, marketing and research
communication. It involves liaising with
investors, advisors and researchers. Effective
communication skills, industry qualifications
